Do the math
Sale barns commonly take 3 to 8 percent off the top of every animal. On a $2,400 bred heifer, a 5% fee is $120, gone before you load the trailer. Here the membership is the whole cost, however much you sell.
Barn fees vary, and many add yardage, feed and insurance on top. The figures beside this use commission alone.
Against a 5% barn you keep $800 more a year.
How selling works
Four steps, and the rules are the same for every seller.
Join and get verified
Choose yearly or monthly and put a card on file. Stripe verifies your identity and payout details, and your first listing goes live once your account is approved.
List as much as you like
Photos, price, breed and pickup location. Any species, any number of animals, no listing fees.
A buyer puts 50% down
The deposit goes to your Stripe account the moment the buyer pays, and the listing comes off the market so nobody else can reserve it.
Pickup within 7 days
The buyer looks the animal over and pays you the other half directly. If they don’t come, you keep the deposit and the listing goes back up on its own.

Any livestock, any size of operation
A thousand head on the range or a few goats on five acres, the price is the same and so are the rules. Cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, horses, donkeys, alpacas, poultry: if you raise it, you can list it.
Seller questions
What does it cost to sell?
$200 a year or $29.95 a month. There is no commission and no listing fee, and you can list as many animals as you like. Buyers pay a service fee on top of their deposit; it never comes out of your price.
When am I charged?
You put a card on file when you apply. Nothing is charged until your account is approved; approval charges the first period.
When do I get paid?
The buyer’s 50% deposit goes to your Stripe account the moment they pay, and becomes available for payout 21 days later so a refund can still be made if an animal was misrepresented. The other half is paid to you directly at pickup, in cash, by certified check or however the two of you agree.
What if the buyer doesn’t show up?
Buyers have seven days to collect. If the week runs out, you keep the deposit and your listing goes back on the market automatically.
What can I sell?
Any livestock: cattle, goats, sheep, pigs, horses, donkeys, alpacas and llamas, poultry and more. The health certificates, ID and brand inspections your state requires still travel with the animal; our papers-by-state guide lists them.
How are sellers verified?
Stripe verifies your identity and payout details. Sometimes we also ask for a document showing your address. A clear match is approved straight away; anything else goes to a person, usually within two business days.
How do I cancel?
From Payments, under “Manage membership and billing”. It takes two clicks and no phone call. Your listings stay live until the end of the period you have paid for.
The full rules are in the Terms, sections 6 and 7.
